Mavs Top Clips; Who Deserves 'The Dirkie'?
The Dallas Mavericks are alone. In seventh. And once again there is some playoff light at the end of a tunnel that is now just six games away.
"The win was nice; not so much the last couple of minutes," said Dirk Nowitzki of the 113-107 win. said. "We started giving the ball away again. ... But I'm glad we survived."
Some raw highlights:
The Clippers had won all three previous meetings by overcoming Dallas advantages due to Dallas errors. It almost happened again, after the Mavs had exploded for a 10-0 spurt and sat on a 12-point lead with under three minutes left. The Clippers got the deficit down to two but no more ... and now Dallas is 45-31 and in possession of seventh, Mavs a half-game up on the Grizzlies and Suns with six games left on the schedule.
"It was a big win for us against a very good team, a team we hadn't beaten yet this year and a team that hasn't lost much on their home floor," Nowitzki said of the third-place Clippers. "We're going to keep fighting. There's six games left and there's plenty of challenges for us down the road."
